The Homefront Gallery presents Conversations, a new series featuring the work of contemporary artists and their various responses to the concept of the “homefront”. On Saturday, September 11 at 4:30 p.m., join us for an informal interactive one-hour session with Jennifer Williams. Williams will present images from her series “Stalled” and talk about her experience as a photographer living and working in New York City. For her current exhibition at The Homefront Gallery, the artist created a large-scale installation, “[flo]#4,” which highlights the social and visual contradictions in the landscape of Long Island City. Moving from aging brick houses to corporate glass office buildings, her work traces the marks and signs of a city under construction.

Jennifer Williams is a New York-based artist whose work will be featured in upcoming exhibitions at The Dumbo Arts Festival and La Mama Gallery. Her recent solo exhibitions include shows at Silvereye Center for Photography, Pittsburgh (2009) and A.I.R. Gallery, New York (2009). She received an MFA from Goldsmiths College, London, and a BFA from The Cooper Union, where she also taught for many years. Williams is currently Visiting Professor of Visual Art at Brown University.
